Take the time to plan
← Back to blogWe all want to be productive, but we are not really productive all the time: we lose time, we don’t track the time we spend working on our projects and we get distracted by non prioritary tasks along the way.
In this post we’ll provide a few tips and guidelines on how to avoid what makes us improductive while focussing on planning.
- The first thing to consider is to focus: avoid getting dragged into the hurry, the stress of all the things that you need to get done. To be able to focus, you need to stop, you have to really take the time -without interruptions- to plan, organize and give priorities to your projects and tasks.
- Second: take the time to plan your tasks. If you don’t invest in time to think and reflect about your work or business is something that virtually guarantees in the best case, it will remain on the threshold of mediocrity. While planning you put in retail and rationalize the tasks to-do, put them in order and give them a timing. This will allow your mind to be free to focus on the planned work, instead of worrying on the amount of things queued on your head.
- Invest in your own R&D. Organizing and planning your tasks gives you time to focus on how to do things in a better way, which means investing on your own R&D. These days, none large company would ever decide to stop investing time and money in R&D. Precisely, the investment in this area around the globe has grown significantly. Even if you are a freelance worker or an employee, you must have in mind that your equivalent of R&D is the time you spend thinking and researching your business or your way of working. With the time you devote to rethink your product, the services you offer or the work you do, you will discover new business opportunities, develop further your current market or get your superiors see you as a proactive and diligent person (the kind of person who is worth promoting).
So, your success depends on you: in order to move forward, stop and plan.
