The power of habits (not hobbits)
← Back to blogThere are different types of people, different kinds of personalities and each one of us has different ways to approach a project execution. As we have seen in other posts, to plan, organize and prioritize tasks along with hard work are some examples of useful skills to help us to be more productive.
Some people are well-organized and have strong and effective working habits, but if it is not your case, you can embrace these practices by repetition.
- Organization. Being organised in your projects helps you to keep track of your work progress and allows you to be on top of your to-do lists and planning at all times. In addition, you will be prepared any time you have a meeting or you are consulted by other work colleagues, clients or collaborators and will know exactly what to say and deliver. So practicing organization will provide you control of the work that falls under your responsibility.
- Initiative. To be proactive and to start right away the tasks that need to be done is a very positive team work practice. It means you are a reliable and responsible person. Others will trust you as a valuable team player.
- Problem-solving thinking. Don’t get stuck if something didn’t turn out the way you expected: take a step back to see the big picture of what you are doing and improvise on the existing work processes. Give feedback, ideas and suggestions to colleagues and clients to help them come up with solutions.
- Be an active learner. Humdrum days and weeks can result in months of monotony, job dissatisfaction and career stagnation. To avoid that keep up to date with the latest trends in your domain, get involved in projects that offer something new to learn, sign up for workshops or courses that you could take you to the next level (either in the current job or in future job hunts).
All this together will make you a valuable asset to any organization you are or will be working for.
For this time we think it is enough for you to put in practice. Remember that the more you apply these skills, the faster they will become you own habits.
